Presonus Orchestral Collection Keygen Software
I also use the VSL SE libraries, and yes, Doc, the playback rules (as far as I know) are complete. That said, I also use VSL Dimension Strings and have started using Virharmonic Bohemian Violins, but these are specialized instruments and the rules aren't available as Notion presets. The ones for VSL Orchestral Strings, however, can be used with Dimension Strings with a little additional effort.Francis, you can hear samples of my Notion/VSL work on my SoundCloud site:Choice of a library is a matter of taste and need. You might be looking for a big cinematic 'Hollywood' sound, and other libraries will give you that out of the box without a lot of eq or other sound processing. VSL products are intended to be fairly neutral from a style standpoint, and so getting them to sound like that latest blockbuster takes some sound engineering work. Thanks for the replies, very appreciated.I considered VSL a while back when I purchased the East West Symphonic Orchestra library, but I though only the basic Vol 1 was integrated making it more or less an equivalent to the East West library. So everything from the complete catalog including the choir is integrated with all articulations?

Extensions, PreSonus VU Meter. 02.27 5 Project Sam Orchestral. 02.25 15 Portable Data Backup and Recovery Software Collection. PreSonus Symphonic Orchestra is more than just another sample library. It combines a complete symphonic orchestra instrument library with ready-to-use Studio One Musicloops for lightning-fast arranging and production in an attractively-priced bundle.
How does it compare to more modern library in terms of strings legato and latest advancement in symphonic orchestra sampling? The investment is quite steep if you throw MirX as well. How much ram does it require to have a whole score load up?Thanks again.Francis. Francisbouillon wroteSo everything from the complete catalog including the choir is integrated with all articulations? I haven't verified by going instrument-by-instrument to compare that there are presets for each instrument in SE, but the list is very complete.

It does include the choirs. I'd recommend an email to Notion sales to ask them if the presets are complete.VSL was one of the early leaders with orchestral sampling, and their samples were recorded dry in an anechoic chamber. This approach has remained unique as far as I know, with other libraries being recorded in actual venues. What this means is that with VSL you can take an instrument and place it in any virtual reverb environment and it will respond to that environment the same as a real instrument would. When a sample is recorded in a real venue, the atmosphere and early reflections of that venue are recorded and the sample loses it's neutrality. As I said in an earlier post, this could be ok, if you're looking for a library that always sounds like it was recorded in AIR studios (in the case of some Spitfire libraries, for example), but you may find that sound limiting after a while, and then have to invest more in other libraries to achieve a different sound.
I come back to VSL because I like that neutrality and I'm getting better at manipulating the sound processing to get the sound I want.On my iMac with 24 gb RAM, I have played scores with over 80 instruments and have never come close to challenging the RAM. I have heard others run it with no problem with 16GB.
I'd be concerned with less than that.I'd recommend (and VSL does as well) that the libraries reside on an external SSD drive. RAM is less of a problem than drive access speed, since the VSL player is exceptionally good at managing memory.I'd also recommend that if you're interested you spend a bit more (I know that VSL is a big investment, but not a lot different than other equivalent libraries) to upgrade to Vienna Instrument Pro (this is the sample player engine). This has a number of advantages but the biggest is the humanize functions.Happy Notioning!Mike.
Francisbouillon wroteThanks Mike, very good info there. Maybe I should have started investing in VSL back then, but at the time Symphonic Orchestra had a more pleasing sound, but that was before the advancement of modern convolution reverb and then time proved, as you pointed out, that sample library with baked in room ambiance tends to have a short life span as they can't be upgraded.I purchased Garrison and Miroslav also before I decided to invest in a library like VSL. Those two just sit now. The library that sits around unused for me is the EWQL Symphonic Library—mostly due to the dumb dongle, which seems to exist mostly to throw up licensing errors. The dongle was one reason I went a different direction than VSL when the time came to upgrade. On EWQL (and the Hollywood series that replaced it) I've heard the dongle is no longer required since iLok can now verify via software, but my understanding is that once you go with the dongle there is no going back on libraries you already purchased.

I don't know how VSL is handling licensing now, but at the time I looked they also required a dongle.I've not found the Spitfire sound overly limiting—and it's the foundation of my libraries now. Adjusting the mic settings you can place it well in other reverbs, but the libraries also sound decent out of the box (without additional reverb) and with other Spitfire libraries, though they don't always mix well with libraries from other manufacturers without some work.
Orchestral Tools makes some truly gorgeous (if also very expensive) string samples that are fairly transparent (and, I've been told, work extremely well with other libraries) and their Metropolis Ark is quite amazing (and reasonably priced) if you are looking for the cinematic sound, need a real fortissimo out of your orchestra, have the need for 9 horns or 4 trumpets in unison, or a legato string patch in octaves to soar over the full orchestra. Since these are more ensemble patches (similar to the Spitfire Albion series), they are not the sorts of things you'd likely be working through Notion to achieve, unless like me you are trying to use Notion as a notation based GUI to speed up work on creating demos or production tracks.I'm running a MacBook Pro 2.7 Ghz i7 from mid-2012 with 16GB, with an SSD internal and SSDs that also handle the samples. I've found I can manage a pretty large orchestra in my DAW (Studio One, Logic, or Ableton Live depending on the project), though I do experience occasional dropouts that can usually be remedied by running the passage and then purging unused samples. I experienced more usability gains from the shift over to SSDs than the increase of RAM from 8GB to 16GB, though I know I could not run the same number of VSTs and other effects without the increased RAM.
I'll look again into moving from iLok to machine, as it would make life simpler (and more likely that I might use some of those EWQL samples). I know I looked into it at one point, but I must have received bad information (or they have changed policies). As for licensing errors, back when I used EWQL regularly they happened ALL THE TIME.
And it didn't matter whether the dongle was plugged into a USB hub or directly into the Mac. SoundsOnline support could never find a solution that worked reliably. ILok said the dongle was working.
Yes, you have to build rules yourself. My set for Sable Ensemble Strings is below, and it is not overly complex. In this version, you have to load the ensemble patch with all the keyswitches into Kontakt as Midi channel 1. Everything works as expected within Notion except the trills are a little funky with the basic trill ('tr) being assigned to whole step trills and X1 being assigned to half step trills. (The hairpin controller is assigned to CC1 but has not been refined.) This rule set runs on midi channel 1.In Notion you have to set up a group of basic staffs (however many you want to use for your Ensemble strings) and then assign those staffs to the Kontakt VST.

I set the Ensemble patch up on two or three staffs and use it for sketching.
