Hopefully i'm posting to the right place, this is my first ever post here on Lemon64 so hi everyoneI have acquired after many years an old brown C64 breadbin model which has the 8 pin AV video out DIN jack on the back. My collegue soldered me an S-Video converter cable with the 300 Ohm chroma fix. I've bought an Easycap capture card from DealExtreme to use with this cable. My model uses the STK1160 grabber IC.
It can be easily indentified if you pop appart the plastic case.I'm using DScaler to watch the captured video. I have the latest available Win x64 drivers on a Windows 8 Pro box.As you can see the captured image has some ugly color bars on the top. If i switch the input format into SECAM (color informations are ignored in this case) i get an error free black & white image, so it seems that the chroma signal is interpreted incorrectly by the grabber.I had the opportunity to test this adapter cable and my C64 a week ago with an Acer XGA projector which had an S-Video input. The image quality was perfect:I'm unsure whats wrong with the original setup. Does anyone have experience with Easycap + C64? I'm trying to setup my environment so i can use both my PC and the C64 at the same time easily. I don't yet have any additional displays to use just for the C64 and it would be a very inconvenient to switch back and forth my current LCD monitor's input between the PC and the C64. (At least i have a Cubieboard aswell and that was my experiment when i shared the same monitor for more than one input).Don't get me wrong, the captured display is good enough for testing some quick hacking, i'm just wondering if Easycap is such a 'crap' or it needs a different resistor on the chroma line or a better OS drivers.I'm also wondering if the quality is the same with a more decent driver like with the open source Linux driver on Github which is now built into Kernerl 3.7 and later:Last edited by inagy on Thu Mar 07, 2013 11:36 pm; edited 1 time in total.
Yep, when i smash mine i make a template, go see my glazier mate and he cuts me a new one, only prob if the original was curved the new one will be straight and it takes a little time to get used to it. Cheap Chinese replacement mirrors are about $50I have one vehicle with curved & one with straight mirrors. I would personallly prefer the straight mirror when reversing trailers & for seeing exactly where the vehicle you just overtook is, when toeing large trailers/horse floats, not that I overtake to many, usually the other way round.

There is of course merging with traffic that becomes a guess with curved mirrors.Have thought often about replacing the glass in the curved mirrors with straight cut from the local glazier.
