I have used Cubase, Logic, Sonar, Ableton and Pro Tools (won't count reason 6 lol) and although each program offers unique features, once you understand protools (and its quick keys) you become valuable to artists on a professional level. As for the VCA groups coolios,the NLS plug-ins took care of that problem.
