I've no idea where people are pulling that from. He was a bit of a dour Scotsman, a bit sour and not always massively approachable. I've first hand experience of that. Richard Burns on the other hand was a very personable and approachable guy and yet noone remembers him.

People liked him because he displayed emotions, rather than being a cold, calculated and detached professional like so many other drivers.The fact that he just wanted to do his best and go flat out made him easy to cheer for - you always knew he would push.He also had a very aggressive, sideways, attacking style, which meant he generally either did well or crashed out - but it was good to watch. Tommi wasn't the most accessible for the English TV / media market, Colin had a great personality and tabloid friendly lifestyle and, ultimately, much like Senna, his death raised his profile.
